Sugaring is a method of hair removal using an all natural paste made up of ONLY sugar, lemon & water.
Wax has many chemical ingredients which can lead to higher risk for irritation and has many side effects.
The sugar paste is applied at a little warmer than body temperature. It cannot burn the skin and is even safe for spider and varicose veins.
Hot wax must be heated to a very high degree in order to become liquefied. This amount of heat can cause burning and scarring.
Sugaring removes the hair in the natural direction of growth which causes less pain, irritation and breakage. It is gentle enough to go over the same area several times when necessary to get as much hair out as possible.
Wax has been known to remove more than just the hair since it can adhere directly to live skin cells. This makes waxing more painful. Wax also cannot be applied to an area more than twice at most.
Sugaring will not break as many hairs. Once the paste is applied to an area, the hair is eased out of the follicle in the natural direction of growth. This helps to extract the entire hair from root to tip. This means that some areas of the body can go up to 4-6 weeks before needing another treatment.
One of the most common problems waxers face is early hair growth due to broken hairs. This problem is caused since wax hardens on the tip of the hair (not from the root) and is often pulled in the opposite direction of growth. This technique has a tendency to break the hair off at the surface of the skin rather than pulling the entire hair from the root.
Hair length for all areas of the body has to be at least a little bit longer than a quarter of an inch, which is typically 2 full weeks of growth from the last time you shaved. It is 4-6 weeks of growth needed from the last time you had any treatment done where the hair was removed from the root. For your face, avoid shaving, trimming, epilating etc. 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
